Oregon Ballet Foundation Broke Guinness World Record In Eugene

On April 20th, 2008, the Oregon Ballet Foundation hosted its second attempt to break the record for the largest ballet class in the world. With a grande total of 578 dancers, a new world record was set! The class was held at McArthur Court on the campus of the University of Oregon to support dance education and performance.

In honor of National Dance Week, and to raise money for dance education in our community, Oregon Ballet Foundation in conjunction with sponsors and dance schools from across the Pacific Northwest came together to break the Guinness World Record for "the Largest Ballet Class." The previous world record was set in Cape Town, South Africa with 551 participants in 2006.

Dancers of all ages and abilities covered the court and followed coaching from instructors in the stands. A great time was had by all, and the Oregon Ballet Foundation would like to thank event sponsors (Body of Light Chiropractic, Novella Cafe, New York Life, The Dancer's Closet) all participants and event volunteers.
